Doe Memorial Library, a magnificent Beaux Arts building on the National Register of Historic Places, is UC Berkeley's main library. Within its walls, a meticulously restored North Reading Room provides a grand work space for students and scholars. Another, more intimate, student haunt is the elegant and tranquil Morrison Library, located just inside this entrance, where reading in overstuffed chairs and long couches is encouraged and laptops are verboten.
